Candid.
After having lived in New Hampshire for my entire life it’s kind of hard to wrap my head around it being December and not being bitterly cold outside. I’m not complaining though.

I’ve been hitting the Salvation Army a lot. I can’t lie, buying clothes that are new to me for only $1.50-$3 is pretty sweet. The shirts I’m wearing in both of these photos were only $1.50 each. Now let me tell you… I love the shop. And since I’m between jobs, shopping isn’t really the numero uno priory. So Salvation Army on half off clothing Wednesday is my time to shine. I must say it’s pretty satisfying…a lot of the stuff I buy at Salvation I can pull off in my very “Urban Outfitters” style. I will say some of the shirts do have restrictions, like they can only be worn belted, tucked in etc. But hey, I can make it work for only a few bucks!

This story is really about one shirt.
I’m obsessed with fashion blogs, where they show you what they wore etc. I love getting inspired by the combinations! The only thing that sucks about those blogs is everyone is wearing big name brands that cost lots of cash! And who has lots of cash these days? I want to hear about how I can get that look for less, and not by getting coupons or whatever, I want to honestly shop smart! Clearly there are some disadvantages to shopping at inexpensive stores, the clothes don’t last and if you pick wrong, they can be cheap looking. So here’s what I’ve deduced while shopping- fabric. Fabric choices is what will make or break you. FYI jersey stretch cotton will never look like it costs more than $20. You’re not fooling anyone.
So I’ve been head over heels for Salvation Army 50% off clothing Wednesdays. I’m not sure if they all do that, but the ones in my area do and it’s amazing. I bought quite a few things that honestly, with some good styling have already gotten me many compliments. Key to my success, I ONLY purchased polyester. Sure, this sounds horrible. But read the rest…
This story is really about one shirt. The one I’m wearing in all the pictures… If you visit American Apparel website you’ll see a shirt that looks VERY similar, down to the key hole in the back. How much did I pay? Not $38. Try $1.50. Yes this shirt cost me less than it does to park at the beach. Mine is made of polyester, oh shocker, the American Apparel one is too. They claim that it’s a “silky” shirt to try and fool you, but read the small print (it’s 100% polyester too!). So honestly, tell me… what makes their shirt better than mine? The fact that it’s “new” that’s about it. So what if someone’s Grandma wore mine. A good wash and it’ll be all good.
So here’s what I’m leaving you with, if you want good deals you have to shop A LOT and at A LOT of places and you have to know EXACTLY What you want and don’t compromise! But to be successful at this you have to have self control. Which most people lack. Good luck.

I’ve been volunteering for the City of Oldsmar trying to build up their social media. Setting guidelines, reaching out… etc. It’s been a good side project while still applying for jobs. I recently took these photos that I’ll be posting (along with more) on their facebook page soon.

So I have this mental checklist of random things that I want to do at some point. Taking photos of my bedroom has been on that list for a while. So there’s one down!
Updating this blog more is on there too. So I’ll get on that. Promise….

Missing home a lot lately, especially with the news of snow up in NH today. Can’t wait to feel that cold on Thanksgiving weekend.

Life never turns out the way you expect it to. At least not for anyone I know. There’s always those unexpected twists and turns on the road of life that you never saw coming. Even if they make you a little car sick at first, it wears off after you’ve straightened out a bit and at that moment you realize that the journey wouldn’t have been as fun or worth while without the twists.
I have to post these pictures of gifts from my friend sent me. It’s funny how life sets things up for you. I received these inspiring gifts on the exact day I had an epiphany about something and really needed to muster some strength from somewhere… Needless to say receiving this, especially the life survival kit was perfect.

When one door closes another one opens.
A blank page is intimidating to look at, but it also forces you to look inside and figure out what it is you want to put on that page. I’m on my way to figuring out what really matters. In the end I think this forced change on my life is a true opportunity for personal growth.

I’m so excited about this project because the entire SunKissed website will be all my photography! These are just a few, I’m doing both white shots and some nature shots. I can’t wait to take more! :)
